What exactly is General Electric (GE) thinking?

Sometimes you really have to wonder about some companies (or their marketing departments). Now, don't get me wrong. I think GE has done and continues to do some great things. However, it's not all roses. What got my attention is the double foldout ads they've been running in Newsweek (and perhaps other magazines as well). These ads tout GE's history of innovation. Right in the middle of this timeline ad is a portion for the Mars Observer spacecraft. GE does have a very notable history of invention and innovation, but the Mars Observer isn't part of it. The Mars Observer spacecraft was lost just prior to Mars orbital insertion. The probable cause was a propellent leak and the result was a total failure to meet any of the mission scientific objectives. This failure cost the taxpayers almost one billion dollars and set back Mars exploration for many years. Not exactly something GE would want to remind people of, don't you think?

Day One

Just getting started. Why do I need this when I already have a home page (or four)? Maybe because I'm lazy, or I just want to check this service out, or both.
